Meet the team – Glasswall’s Bhargavi Puli talks QA, the future of the cybersecurity industry and women in tech

Q: Can you tell us about your career background and what led you to join Glasswall?

I’m originally from India and moved to the UK four years ago. I studied Computer Science at university and started my career in QA, working across ERP and manufacturing systems. My interest in emerging technologies eventually drew me toward cybersecurity. It’s an area full of innovation and complexity, and Glasswall really stood out.

I joined the company in 2022. The company’s strong focus on innovation and collaborative culture made it an exciting opportunity, and I was excited by the chance to work with talented professionals and contribute to meaningful industry developments. It was my first cybersecurity role, and I quickly found myself working with some of our biggest clients on challenging use cases – a challenge I have really enjoyed.

Q: What excites you most about working in the cybersecurity industry?

There are always new threats, and every month brings something different. We’re seeing increasingly sophisticated ways of targeting files, especially with the growing role of AI. I love that it pushes us to evolve quickly. At Glasswall, we’re constantly updating our technology to stay ahead, which keeps things exciting and gives me a real sense of purpose in what I do. It’s fulfilling to work on solutions that make a real impact in keeping data and systems safe.

Q: Where do you see the industry heading in the next few years?

To be honest, it’s hard to say what things will look like in the next few years – the pace of change, especially with AI, is so rapid. That kind of uncertainty might feel overwhelming to some, but I see it as an opportunity. It means there’s always something new to learn and new challenges to tackle. What seems certain is that the demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals will continue to grow, making it an essential and promising field for the future.

Q: Can you tell us a bit about the Glasswall Women in Tech committee? Why is it important?

The Glasswall Women in Tech committee is a supportive space where we come together to share experiences, tackle challenges and help each other grow professionally. Our focus is on mentorship, building confidence and empowering members to develop their skills and present themselves effectively in the tech industry.

I’ve been part of the group since it launched around two years ago. We meet monthly to discuss our work environment, exchange ideas and explore ways to better support one another. Over time, we've organised certification sessions, shared personal experiences and regularly provided feedback to managers on how the company can better support women in tech.

We’re tackling meaningful challenges in a field where women remain underrepresented. Cybersecurity can be difficult to break into, which is why supportive communities like this are so important. Together, we encourage one another to overcome obstacles, grow our skills, and recognize the unique value each of us brings—not only to our careers, but to the broader business landscape.

Q: What advice would you give to women looking to start a career in cybersecurity or tech more broadly?

Things have improved, but there’s still a perception that cybersecurity is especially complex, and that can make people hesitate. My advice is simple: stay curious, don’t be afraid to ask questions and believe in your ability to learn. Tech isn’t as inaccessible as it sometimes seems, and there’s room for all kinds of people and skill sets. While everyone’s journey is different, having a strong support network and embracing continuous learning can make a huge difference in building a successful career.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Meditation helps me stay balanced – it’s part of my daily routine. I also love canvas painting as a creative outlet, and long walks help me unwind. I also play a bit of badminton when I get the chance. It’s a good way to switch off and stay active.
