Deploy Glasswall Halo via Proxmox
We’re committed to making it as easy as possible for organisations to integrate Glasswall Halo’s industry-leading Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR) capabilities into their environments, no matter how they choose to deploy.
In addition to our Kubernetes-based options, we’re excited to announce a new, simplified deployment path: Glasswall Halo can now be deployed on a single node virtual machine (VM) using Proxmox VE.
This streamlined approach allows customers to run Halo with minimal infrastructure overhead, making it ideal for air-gapped environments, smaller organisations, or those seeking rapid prototyping and evaluation setups.
Why Single Node VM deployment?
While container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes offer scalability and resilience, they can introduce complexity that isn’t always necessary for every use case.
Our single node VM deployment option enables:
- Faster setup: get up and running with Halo quickly, without needing a full Kubernetes environment.
- Lower infrastructure footprint: ideal for restricted environments with limited resources or strict security controls.
- Flexible use cases: perfect for proof-of-concepts (POCs), tactical deployments, labs, and sensitive government environments.
Whether you're operating in a fully connected cloud environment or in a highly restricted, offline network, the new VM deployment option gives you greater flexibility to meet your needs.
How it works
Glasswall Halo can now be deployed as a single VM instance hosted on Proxmox VE; an open-source virtualization platform.
The Halo VM image includes all the essential components required to operate:
- CDR Engine for file sanitization
- Halo Core Services (API Gateway, Admin UI, and supporting services)
- Optional: telemetry, reporting, and system monitoring integrations
Installation is simple:
- Set up a Proxmox server (if you don’t already have one).
- Download the Halo VM template from Glasswall.
- Deploy and configure the VM following our step-by-step guide.
- Start processing files with Glasswall’s market-leading CDR protection!
Flexibility across virtualized environments
In addition to Proxmox, we also support single node VM deployments via:
VMware ESXi: leverage VMware’s trusted virtualization platform for enterprise environments.
Microsoft Hyper-V: integrate seamlessly into Windows-based infrastructures with Hyper-V support.
Amazon EC2: deploy quickly and securely on AWS’s flexible, scalable compute infrastructure.
VMware vSphere: take advantage of advanced virtualization and management features for larger-scale or data centre environments.
This expanded flexibility ensures that Glasswall Halo can be deployed quickly and efficiently across a wide range of virtualized environments; whether in air-gapped systems, private clouds, or lab environments. Deploying Glasswall Halo via Proxmox, VMware, Hyper-V, or Amazon EC2 gives organisations robust file protection, operational simplicity, and the ability to meet strict infrastructure and security requirements.
